Trotts Hall Project
 | Trotts Hall is a large house that several years ago was dismantled brick by brick, timber by timber, and moved from its site, in Bell Road, Sittingbourne, to the Village of Milstead. The building stood on the original site for centuries and was itself a Georgian addition to an already well established estate. Trotts Hall has never been studied in detail before and the team's discoveries will provide a new aspect to Sittingbourne's heritage.

Rose Hill Project
 | Following an article by HRGS member John Clancy, regarding the old house that once stood at Rose Hill near The Grove in Sittingbourne, a visual survey of the area discovered that the building's foundations were still visible. A plan to uncover, measure and record the site has been put forward as an HRGS 'Family Project'.

Key Street Project
 | Key Street was once a small hamlet on the London Road. When the A249 was built Key Street was designated as the spot at which a major roundabout was to be constructed and the hamlet was all but swept away. A resident living close to the new roundabout uncovered some foundations from an earlier building in the garden of their house and we were asked to investigate.

Old All Saints' Church, Murston
 | The Old All Saints Church project has been organised for all HRGS members to take part in. This ongoing study is considering all aspects of the building's history, from its medieval construction to its reconstruction as a mortuary chapel and the building of the new church using the pillars, arches and stones from the remains of the old. The medieval features are to be recorded and studies made into the early ground plan and possible construction phases. A full documentary is also being carried out along with a survey to record the tombstone inscriptions and state of repair and compare them to those studied from the church in the 70's.

Medieval Graffiti Project
 | This project is to study and record the medieval 'graffiti' carved into the stonework of St. Michael's Church, Sittingbourne. This is not the true graffitti one might expect with modern day vandalism, but a mix of unofficial devotional carvings and masons' marks. The devotional carvings can range from complicated images of people, animals and ships etc., to simple geometric shapes.
St. Michael's Church has several examples of such 'graffitti' and the team will record each incidence and search for underlying patterns in the positioning etc. Other Churches will also be visited to form comparisons of style, date and position.
If you would like to be involved in this project or if you have any information you'd like to share with the team then please email us.
